Kitchen Flooring
A Choice That Can Last A Lifetime.

Kitchen flooring is not only for walking on anymore. With the new laminate floors and spectacular stone flooring, the floor is quickly becoming an architectural detail. Not just something underfoot.

There are so many choices inflooring. Each one has it's Pro's and Con's, not every flooring type is good for every person or family.

Here Are Some Of The Types Of Flooring:

  • Man made terrazzo flooring is a material made from marble chips and concrete, or resin, and polished to expose the marble when dry. Which is very durable and gives your kitchen floor a special style.

  • Sheet vinyl is very popular as well, with many different styles that mimic stone, ceramic tile, and wood. Sheet vinyl can be a DIY project if the homeowner has some experience in sheet goods.

  • Vinyl floor tiles are also an option. These tiles have a self stick backing and are DIY friendly. Armstrong offers vinyl tiles with lifetime warranties. This type of floor comes in many different styles and is a good option.

    • For the best longevity and durability you might want to consider installing commercial vinyl floor tiles.

    • Yet another option in vinyl is vinyl plank flooring. I installed some Allure Trafficmaster flooring in my bathroom, this flooring has some great advantages and is very easy to install.

  • Cork flooring is resilient and durable and has many properties that are good for kitchens. The soft nature of cork makes it easier on your feet. Cork is also water resistant due to a natural wax that is present in the cells of the cork.

  • Ceramic tile is a very durable flooring with very easy cleaning. Ceramic tile has been a popular choice for years but special precautions need to be taken to ensure the floor will last.

  • Wood flooring in the kitchen is also an option. 25 year warranties are standard with many pre-finished floors. Different textures and finishes make this type of floor a popular choice.
    • Virginia Mill Works has a wide selection of hand scraped pre-finished floors. This type of flooring is becoming very popular, and with all the benefits of modern technology.

    • Exotic hardwood flooring is also a very popular option in kitchen flooring. Some exotic floors are also very reasonably priced, you may be surprised at what you can get.

  • Stone kitchen flooring is also in style.

    • Granite is not just for countertops it also makes a great floor.

    • Slate is also an option and it's one of my favorites.

    • Travertine, a member of the limestone family, is a fabulous way to add a natural touch to your kitchen.

    • Marble is a great flooring option, both durable and beautiful. There are maintenance requirements for marble floors as well.
    • The durability of stone floors is unmatched and the colors are endless. The natural beauty of stone can WOW everyone who see's it.

  • Laminate kitchen flooring has improved dramatically in the past couple of years. Pergo offers a 30 year warranty in kitchen installations in some of their product lines. These floors can be installed quickly and easily by a DIYer with some basic knowledge and the correct tools.

  • Let's not forget the radiant floor heating. Underfloor heating is a very good idea under tile and stone floors to eliminate those cold winter morning floors, burrrr.
